For over 10 years our experienced team have been providing ecological mitigation works to a wide range of different projects and premises. Our professionals are on hand to develop ecological strategies that will help to minimise the impact that development plans have on both plant species and local wildlife. The Grounds Care Group, are extremely passionate about minimising impacts wherever possible and have previously provided ecological mitigation works to a variety of different sectors including local authorities, rail, education, healthcare and retail. Ecological Strategies
Our specialist team will be able to implement a range of tried and tested ecological strategies. We will visit your site and carefully consider a range of specialist strategies to help to minimise the impact of development. Our strategies typically involve avoidance, mitigation and enhancement measures that are a government requirement.
- Avoidance – This is one of the most cost-effective strategies for reducing harm to vital ecological factors. One example of an avoidance strategy would be altering timings of the work being carried out. This would mean that the site is left undisturbed during sensitive times, for example in the breeding season.
- Mitigation – Our specialist mitigation strategies can help to reduce the impact of development. An example would be to build tunnels underneath roads to enable wildlife such as badgers to pass safely from one side to the other. We would also implement compensation plans within our mitigation strategies for when avoidance and mitigation plans are not enough. This allows us to create new habitats or make enhancements to existing habitats. We’ll carefully undertake all work to meet planning criteria, as well as benefit the development and community.
- Enhancements – Our enhancement strategies work by combining avoidance, mitigation and compensation techniques together to achieve no net loss of biodiversity or at the very least minimise the impact where possible. Government policies state that developments should contribute to restoring biodiversity with provisions of new habitats both on and off-site.
